The long tradition of grape growing and wine production have resulted in some of the best and quite unique wine sorts, which are recognized and appreciated in the international wine scene. This wine tour takes you through the countries northern region, to discover and taste these wines. But it’s not just the beautiful wine tastings in well known local wineries that you will experience in this package. You will also see the countries natural beauties, taste its wonderful food and meet the wonderful people and their passion which makes it all happen.
There are about 250 grape varieties in Croatia, of which some 130 of them are indigenous. In intensive breeding, Croatia currently counts about twenty varieties from which Croatia’s special and awarded wines are made. In your visit to local winemakers you will try the most popular and most renowned wines of the region, which are made only in Croatia. Through your wine journey, you will meet some of the winemakers and you will hear their stories.

We will welcome you at the airport, and transfer you to your accommodation. After checking-in you will have a welcome lunch, after which you will go on a private guided sightseeing tour, where you will get to know its lovely streets, interesting traditions and charming restaurants that make it the perfect place for your vacation.
After breakfast and some free time in the capital, we will take you to the Podravina region. Located only an hour away from Zagreb, the hills of this picturesque region are full of vineyards growing native varieties. You will visit two vineries – Bolfan and Kostanjevec. There you will try continental wines and the local delicacies which go along with them. The most interesting and unique wines from these areas are the ones made from the ice harvest. It is something truly unique and it has a taste that you will remember.
The Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the first natural sites added to the UNESCO World Heritage register. The park is world famous for its 16 turquoise lakes arranged in cascades and connected with magnificent waterfalls. It also has the largest waterfall in Croatia, with a height of 78 meters. On the way to the Plitvice we will make a stop at Plešivica to visit Šember and Tomac wineries. They are the best winemakers in the region, well known for their passion and vision in the winemaking business. After the wine tasting, we will continue towards Plitvice Lakes, where you will spend the night.
After your exploration of Plitvice Lakes, it is time to head towards Croatia’s biggest and mos beautiful peninsula – Istria. It is a region of culture, beauty, amazing wine and delicious food. After your check-in, a visit to Kolzlovich winery is scheduled. Located next to the hilltop town Momjan, Kozlovich produces some of the best wines in Croatia. You will have a wine tasting and a tour of the winery, where you will get to know the winemaking process of the biggest private winemaker in the country.
You will have free time to enjoy until the afternoon when a visit to Cattunar winery is scheduled. The Cattunar family have one of the most interesting wine tastings in Istria, due to their unique vineyard which has 4 different types of soil. Each of the soil types create a completely different wine from the same grape variety. After the wine tasting we will go to a family farm in the Istrian hinterland where you will taste the wonderful home made organic food of the Tončić family.
On this day you will visit two winemakers – Matošević and Meneghetti. Both are very famous and well known winemakers but each with their own winemaking philosophy. You will have enough time to discover more of Istria in between the visits to the winemakers, and your itinerary can be filled based upon your interests.
Your last day in Istria will be free of activities. You can use it to relax and enjoy, or you can spend it in a more active way. You can always choose some of our half day or full day trips to fill your itinerary or if you have an idea of your own, just tell us and we will make it happen!
